Tamiya Cheetah |

Way back in 1979 (at the age of four) I got my feet wet in "real" RC cars. The vehicle to above is the first one I ever had that was a kit. It was called a Cheetah and was Tamiya's seventh car that they produced and one of the first off road vehicles as well from what I know. Back then the kit was $49.99 from Tower Hobbies. After a winter of building it with my Dad we headed to the driveway. The radio for this car took up my entire lap! After a few accidents I got the hang of it. The car was very advanced for it's time. It had torsion bar suspension, many gear ratios to choose from, and was VERY scale which is common to early Tamiya vehicles. We still have this car and hope to restore it for display purposes someday. If it wasn't for this car AND my Dad I wouldn't be where I am today. Thanks DAD! |
