Tamiya Bruiser

After having our first Bruiser for a few years we ran across another one. This truck came from a retired Hobby Shop owner. On a point scale, it is about a 90 point truck. He ran it very little and the truck is near perfect. Our first Bruiser was sold (E-Bay) in January 2002 for a decent amount considering the time that went into it. The new Bruiser is fully functional and has a Futaba 4 channel radio installed. We do run the truck but not very much and when we do, I am very careful with it. These trucks as some of you may know have a 3 speed transmission you can carefully shift on the fly. They are the most scaled RC truck you will ever lay your eyes on, least as a production vehicle. Leaf sprung axles, full chassis of which is metal along with probably 75% of truck. Bodies were very detailed during this time that came from Tamiya. This one thankfully was only painted once and quite well. Our previous Bruiser had seven (yes, seven) layers of paint on it. Restoring that body was a nightmare. The new truck's body is very nice and only required some careful wet sanding and hand polishing to get it to look like glass. Someday we may strip the body down and repaint it because the paint is thin in some areas. We also have the original period correct Tamiya option battery. This was a huge 6 volt 4000mah pack that allowed very long run times with the truck. The motor is a 750 size rather than the standard 540 sized can motor. This was done due to the size and weight of the truck and in 4-low the combo of this motor and gear ratios make for a torque monster. We are proud to own a very important piece of Tamiya's history and hope to someday have another Bruiser or two. To see our first Bruiser, you can click HERE to see it and a brief story about it.
