The "Free" Nitro Sport |

This is our little truck that I picked up for free. My LHS had it and used it for parts since it didn't run very well. I had always looked at it and gave them trouble about it when I was at the shop. It was a basket case. One day I had a notion to call the shop and see what they wanted for it. The owner of the shop said I could have it because they had planned to pitch it anyway. WOOOO, I was there in 2 minutes flat. Nothing better than a free RC. Needless to say when the truck came home it didn't look like this. It was missing a ton of parts. I had enough odd-ball parts around here that I got it back together somewhat. What I didn't have, I ordered. The truck had a engine in it but it didn't run for squat. Sooo, I got the truck for free and put about $40 in it to make it go. The little stock TRX engine just was NOT going to do the trick. It would run great then overheat and die. My buddy had an RB Concepts .12 that he was itching to get rid of. This little engine was rated at 1hp. I installed it and ran it for about a month then it went POOF.....money well spent....NOT :-). Once the little RB went south on me I had been spoiled by the high HP .12 engines. Was tempted to get a new RB but figured I could go with an OS CVR .12 since my LHS gets me good prices on them. WOW, the little OS screams. OS rates it at something like 1.2hp and I believe it. Once the new engine was broke in it started twisting and breaking stock half shafts. Next upgrade....CVD's. Since installing the CVD shafts there hasn't been a problem. Gearing is set up with a 20th bell and a 70th spur. That is the story of the FREE Nitro Sport and how it "followed" me home.
