Mother Thumper.... |
This T-MAXX was purchased a few months after our first truck. We bought this one mainly to use in photos as well as for developing other parts. Well, after being a donor truck for our .21 T it was time to do something with it before it withered away. As you can see we didn't just stuff ANY engine in the truck. It's an OS FT160 2 cylinder 4 stroke (say that three times fast). Once we received the engine it was off to the drawing board. |

As you can see in the picture this isn't your average project truck. There were many parts that didn't exist and we had to invent them.....this was part of the fun. Jason Rix from Rix Gear helped us out alot in the beginning with the chassis, engine mounts, and lower braces. Once all these parts were assembled it was time to start designing some sort of transmission. Gears were ordered and we headed back to the drawing board. The truck uses 8th scale style clutch shoes of which spin in a custom clutchbell we made. Not only did we have to develop a transmission we also had to come up with means of stopping the beast. This is where the 1/5th scale SEI racing calipers come into play. Using the SEI calipers we made our own disc and linkage.

This is how the truck sits now. We are in the process of completing the project. As soon as I can I will get pictures up of the starter system, fuel system, radio gear and electronics "deck". We will also have a few pictures of the transmission and brakes as well. For a closer view of the engine and how it's fitted on the chassis......click here. |
